"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock,
and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that
seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there
of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish,
will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good
things to them that ask him?"
Matthew 7:7-11
King James Version
My daughter is taking a course for her lifeguard certification.
The prerequisite for this certification is not an easy task to do - swim 500 yards using
different strokes, then picking up a 'brick' at a depth of 7-10 ft and swimming back to
the start while holding the brick with both hands and your head out of the water. Now
for the younger ones, this task is not as challenging! She practiced before taking the
prerequisite test (as recommended) and was somewhat confident in passing this grueling
challenge. If this portion of the certification is not passed, you cannot go on with
the certification classes (and you lose the class fee paid).
I contacted my prayer buddies and asked that they pray for her - specifically.
For endurance and strength to complete and pass the test, focus, and that she be
'light in the water'. I kissed it up to God and released it to Him.
The one point here is being specific. When she was finished, she said she
had passed. One comment she made just filled my whole being with a supernatural
awe - 'I felt like I was just floating on top of the water'! From the moment
she got in the water, her body felt like it was light, floating effortlessly
on top of the water and swimming was a 'piece of cake'.
Matthew 7:7-11 illustrates this prayer concept beautifully! Jesus said to be
specific and our Father will answer us - if we just ask!
In His Hands,
Lori
