Something had caught my cat's attention and off
he ran quickly to the window. I went over to the window to see this 'amazing thing'
that had his full attention. It was a roadrunner that paid us a visit on our porch.
Normally, these birds do not come anywhere near the house. I have seen them running
to and fro across our yard but never this close. It almost seemed as if it wanted
me to see him. I just gazed at the bird and a very colorful spot on his head
caught my eye. The most bright and beautiful colors of orange and blue were
nestled between the brown feathers. I never saw this before, as I had never
been this close. I was fascinated by this 'unnoticed treasure' that made
itself known that day.
The same is true for our relationship with God. How can we know Him if we
keep our distance? How can we truly know the beauty of God when we are
'looking from afar'?
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among
the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
Psalm 46:10
In our busy schedules, let us make an appointment every day to spend time
with the Lord. Let us be still. Let us study His word and talk with Him
and walk with Him everyday. That is how we can get closer to God and to
see and know the beauty of the Lord!
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek
after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4
