In the Hebrews hall of faith (Hebrews 11) there are many of God's people who are mentioned. Among those listed in the hall of faith is Sarah.

Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Hebrews 11:11

God had promised to give Abraham and Sarah a child. Of course they were both well on in years and past child bearing age. The circumstances they found themselves in went against what God had told them He would do.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1

But God did just as He had promised He would do!
(See Genesis 17:17-19, 18:11-14, 21:1-2)

Oh that we could have great faith to believe ALL the things God promises.

While shopping for a formal dress with my daughter, I had a price in mind that I was 'willing' to pay. A friend was agreeing with me in prayer that we find the perfect dress at the right price. She told me 'there is a dress' out there for my daughter at the price I wanted to pay. My daughter is a hard fit and a picky dresser so this was no easy task. We visited a few shops and she found a dress that fit her perfectly and she loved it. The only thing was the price. It was not within the budgeted price range that I wanted to pay. There were several other dress styles that were on sale in this shop and I even asked the salesclerk if that particular dress was on sale and she told me that it was NOT on sale.

So off we ventured to other shops in search of a dress that fit my daughters liking and my budget. We did not find another dress like the one she liked so well and the prices were double to triple the cost of that one dress.

I reluctantly went back to the shop and said I would purchase the dress. Now the circumstances of this purchase were that this was in fact 'THE DRESS' but it was not within the budgeted price range. I did not even think of God providing the price as the 'seen' circumstances went against that. And I should have not been surprised when the salesclerk informed me that the dress was in fact on sale in my budgeted price range! But I was looking at the evidence that was seen and forgetting that God works even when we don't see it.

If only I had the faith to believe in that particular situation, I would have saved ourselves from the 'going to and fro' looking for a dress.

Let us all take what Jesus said in Mark 11:22 "Have faith in God" and act on it even though the 'seen evidence' does not readily point to the desired outcome.
