My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.   James 1:2-3

Joy? When we are tempted and possibly falling? You ask yourself "Why am I being tempted?" Why am I having all these troubles? And why should there be joy for something that can be sorrowful, painful, or devastating to our lives? Because then you know that YOU are doing something right! Yes something right!

If we are not being attacked then we are off course - we are walking in the wrong direction - walking in the opposite direction from God and walking with the world. If you are walking with God, the devil, our adversary, will try to destroy you, ruin your testimony, and do anything to get you away from God. He knows that he can't 'have' you, but yet he can still try to wreak havoc in our lives.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.   Ephesians 6:11-12

As long as we are walking with God, doing His will, and growing in Him, the devil will lie to us, try to cheat, and steal from us. To win these battles we not only have to put on our armor, but never take it off! We have the power available to us to withstand all that comes against us.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)   2 Corinthians 10:3-4
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,   Ephesians 3:20

It is God's power that works within us that helps us win the battles in our lives - our spiritual battles. We have that power available to us - for we cannot wage these battles alone. We need God's mighty power to demolish the strongholds and the lies that the devil throws at us.

If you are or have been facing battles in your life - think it joy! For you are doing something right!
