We have all done it at one time or another - thinking that a new outfit,
new haircut, or some material 'want' will solve our problems, will make us feel better about
ourselves. But deep down the problem is still there. There is an emptiness inside that we
try to fill with worldly things. What we really need is 'renewal' from the inside - our
hearts, our minds, and our spirit. The only way to do this is to trust God, to have faith
in Him to rid our hearts of the root of the problem and replace it with things above - good,
pure, holy thoughts. He is our source of all we need, all we desire...
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; Ephesians 4:23
This is not an overnight remedy - but a continual renewing of our minds and our hearts.
Feed your mind and heart with the Word of God daily.
For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward
man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16
It takes not only faith that God can do what He says He can do but it takes courage
to stay the course and perseverance day by day. You may take 3 steps forward and 2
back but it is still progress. God will not leave you to do this alone.
We are new creatures if we are in Christ - all old things are passed away, gone.
We may be hanging on to something in our past. Why?
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
We may live in this world, but we are not to be a part of it. The world's solutions will
not work; they will never have lasting results. Those solutions just mask, cover
up what is really inside.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable,
and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
Which do you choose? A temporary fix or lasting renewal?
