The images are numbing, the destruction mind-boggling. Many of us can't even begin to imagine being in a situation like the one that struck the Gulf states. When it does happen, we often think 'What can I do?'...'What can one person like me do?'. Praying is one very important thing you can do... giving to a relief organization is another and many employers are matching donations dollar for dollar. Giving of your time is yet another way to give aid to those in need. Banded together, we can have a great impact on the outcome.

Shelters all across the United States are being filled to capacity. Most of these people have lost everything they own - all but their lives and the clothes on their backs. Some have lost their children, parents, grandparents, and other loved ones.

Pray that God will guide you in the direction on how He wants you to give. We are called to help those in need...

And he answered, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND; AND YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." Luke 10:27 NASB

"Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same." Luke 10:36-37 NASB

The Big Easy and Katrina by Paul Leaman

The Big Easy,
with it's mirth
Yes, it's gaiety
known on earth.
It's night life
so alluring,
It's celebrating,
so enduring.
Now in darkness
the long hot night,
Gives no alurment
offers no delight.
Cries of desperation
fill the night air.
Now one bemoans
it's more then we can bear!
With brackish water
all around,
barely a spot
of good dry ground.
The heat's unbearable
both night and day,
With water all around...

THE WORSE SCENE ~ by Joanne Lowe

As we watch the horrible scenes of the devastation of the hurricane that hit a couple of days ago in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, our hearts our broken and tears are flowing down our cheeks. Some of them have lost homes, family, property, and everything they own. We pray that one day they will be able to build another home and live like they were before the hurricane...
