There Has to be a Beginning

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
Genesis 1:1
King James Version

There has to be a beginning for everything. There has to be a decision beginning in our hearts to forgive people who have hurt us. It is not enough to tell them "I forgive you". It is a sin to harbor unforgiveness in our hearts. We must not continue to hold it against them for the cruel words they say to us and the way they turn against us and stab us in the back.

Isn't that what Jesus does for us? He forgives us over and over even when we continue to do the same things that we know we shouldn’t do. When Jesus forgives us, He forgives our sins from His heart and He never holds them against us again. Does that mean that He has a poor memory? Of course not, He knows everything. It means that He chooses to forget them.

Several people have emailed me and said "I forgive this person but I will never forget what this person said and did to me." How dare you and I not forgive from our hearts and choose to forget what people have said and done to us when the Saviour of the world chooses to not only forgive us but also to forget our sins? May God have mercy on us! We can’t forgive them on our own. We need Jesus to help us forgive them.

O' that we would be like our precious Saviour and not only forgive the ones who hurt us from our hearts but also forget what they said and did to hurt us. Remember, none of us are perfect. We hurt people too. There was only one perfect person who ever lived or ever will live and His name is Jesus. Do you choose to forgive the ones who have hurt you or will you continue to harbor unforgiveness in your heart? If so, you are hurting Jesus and breaking His heart.
